Revenge of the Fifth

I totally missed out on May the Fourth (too busy playing on inflatable slides), so I’m here to wish you all a happy Revenge of the Fifth.

Also, how is it May 5th already?! I’m late for my end-of-April post, so here’s a quick look at the books I read in April:

Simon Thorn and the Viper’s Pit (Simon Thorn #2) by Aimee Carter
Rose in Bloom by Louisa May Alcott (I think I’ll just stick with Little Women from here on out.)
The Stranger (Animorphs #7) by KA Applegate (You guys. I have a whole new appreciation for Ms. Applegate as an adult. I love how frankly and realistically she deals with real-world issues for MG AND writes insanely compelling and exciting fantasy/sci-fi plots. No wonder I was obsessed with these books for so long.)
Indigo’s Star (Casson Family #2) by Hilary McKay (I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve read this book. I love love love Indigo and Permanent Rose.)

What have you been reading lately?

  1. Man, you’ve got me in the dust. I used to read about a book a week, but since I’ve been working more on my WIP, I haven’t read as much. That said, I did manage to finish (note I didn’t say start in April 🙂 ) a few books: “Tripwire” (Jack Reacher #3 by Lee Child), Patricia Briggs’ latest Mercy Thompson book “Silence Fallen”, Kay Hooper’s “Touching Evil”, Tami Hoag’s “Dark Horse”, and “Fly by Night” by Ward Larsen. Now, for books I actually started and finished in the same month, I think maybe two of those 🙂 Ive decided to work through the Jack Reacher series (in audiobook format while I run). Working on Kay Hooper’s “Whispers of Evil” and “The Bone Wall” by D. Wallace Peach. My TBR list is way unruly!

    1. Haha, the only reason I finish so many books is because most of them are MGs that take an hour or two to read. 🙂 Those TBR lists are beasts! The more I hack away at mine, the bigger it gets. How do you like the Jack Reacher series? I’ve been trying to decide if I should add them to the list.

      1. I like the Reacher series so far. I’m not sure what to compare it to, kinda like if James Bond was a former Army MP investigator, way less debonaire, wandered the land like Kwai Chan Kang, and took lessons from Jason Bourne on being covert. And not a spy. And he looks nothing, and I mean *nothing* like Tom Cruise (from the Reacher movie). Nice twists in the plots, too, especially in Tripwire. I’m reading Running Blind right now. Not a constant chase/shoot ’em up; more suspense/mystery type stuff. Similar to Preston and Child’s Pendergast in a lot of ways, but less refined (and less rich).
